Looking up at the trellis at the Pritzker pavilion at Millennium Park from the lawn is a dazzling view of the city. The building, the beam, the movement of the people make an unforgettable sense of beauty, peace and musical vibration.
In this painting, I wanted to create a layer of depths, colors, movement and shapes. Even the sky brush stroke seems in movement of its own. The overhead trellis of crisscrossing steel pipes looking up from the lawn creates a sense of cover and frame to the city. I used thick white, tint of yellow and red, gray color to bring the feeling of the closeness of the trellis to the viewer and the city smooth, delicate cool color of the city to create far away depth.
