As a child, sleeping on the rooftop during hot summer nights was part of the Baghdad, Iraq culture. Counting the stars, enchanted by the dazzling brilliance of shooting stars and the many stories that were told are some of my long-time memories that inspired me to create this painting.
Some cultures believe that shooting stars have been an omen of love entering one’s life or of existing relationships growing and becoming stronger. Connecting these words with an image and vivid color is one of my passions. In this painting you will see the color of the sky which is the ultraviolet that represents the streak of light in the night sky. The arrow represents the tail of the star as it enters the earth’s atmosphere. The woman in red represents the fire that ignites within us to create hope and strength. Creating this painting reminds me of my childhood nights watching the stars and the luck that I was promised by seeing them. We all need some magic to dazzle our lives.
