Blade Runner This painting inspired by the people who lost a limb due to war or diseases, and able to use prosthetics to live the life of freedom, purpose, and passion. The figure takes flight despite obstacles. It is the overcome of the challenges that creates the true sense of freedom in this composition. My children taught me so much about life by me seeing the world through their eyes. It makes me humble and in awe of what it means to be a mother. In this painting, I chose a red scarf because red, in Japan, is a traditional color for a heroic figure. For them, red denotes strength, passion, and self-sacrifice as per Ardak Kassenova. The white color around the mother and the children represents the deep emotional bond between them. The dove in this painting is commonly known as a symbol of motherhood, devotion, purity, and peace. The mother in this painting represents a tree shape of Mother Trees. According to The Mother Tree book, “Mother Trees are large trees within a forest that act as centralized hubs, supporting communication and nutrient exchange amongst trees.” Mother trees recognize kin, supply resources, share wisdom, sound alarms, support networks of hundreds of trees, foster deep connections and alliances, and pass their legacies down to future generations. We have more in common with trees (and nature) than we think. I remember my parents used to thank us for taking the time to visit them. It didn’t make sense to me then, but now I understand the fact that our adult children, who are coping with the challenges of life and situations, taking the time to be with us is well appreciated. Water is the softest thing, yet it can penetrate mountains and earth. This clearly shows the principle of softness overcoming hardness.” Lao Tzu In this painting, I tried to convey the water element with color, shapes, and energy. Its colors are represented in deep blue and black. Blue conveys tranquility, serenity, and sadness. Black represents depression, but at the same time creates a sense of deep spiritual knowing. This color black includes all colors of the spectrum and therefore reflects brilliance. It shapes are irregular, wavy, and curvy. The water energy in this painting represents the free flowing feeling of the ocean, and the deep dark stillness of nighttime. Water is the most expressive element in nature.
